Andrew Moreland believes hard work is the key to Barking ending a run of three straight losses when they host Kings Cross Steelers in London Three Essex on Saturday.
After winning their opening league game of the campaign, the Gale Street club have lost their last three matches.
Their latest defeat came at Epping Upper Clapton last weekend, with Barking losing 20-12.
The defeats have seen the Gale Street club fall down the table, but director of rugby Moreland feels a return to winning ways is just around the corner — as long as the team continue to keep working hard.
“We’ll just keep plugging away and we know exactly what we have to work on,” he said.
“The experienced players we have are being very vocal about that on and off the pitch, which is what you want as a coach.
“We know we’re very, very close to a good performance. We have the players to do that, it’s just a case of it all coming together.”
The clash with Kings Cross marks the end of the first phase of fixtures in the league, with Barking set to visit Fakenham in the RFU Senior Vase the following weekend.
Moreland believes both of the next two fixtures for the Gale Street club are winnable matches, and hopes they can gain success in order to kick-start their campaign.
“We want to start building some momentum and hopefully we can do that in the coming weeks,” said Moreland.
“We’ve looked at our next four to five games and see them as all ‘must-win’ matches.
“If we can string some wins together, hopefully it has a domino effect and we go on a run from there.”
