The u16’s continue to experience success as they were recently crowned champions of the Essex league division 2, as well as beating Wanstead in the Waterfall cup. Winning the league is always a special achievement after a long season however, the squad achieved it by winning every league game. They showed their attacking talents throughout the season, scoring an impressive 229 tries, their defence was also on form, conceding only 39 tries. These are incredibly impressive stats and show not only how talented the group are but how hard they have worked on the training pitch throughout the season with Coaches Laure Osunami, Lee Saffell and Courtney Howell who has assisted throughout the season. This seasons captain, Lewis Saffell has led by example and Leke Adesanya tops the try scoring table for the squad.

The squad also have also had 8 members attend Saracens DPP over the last 3 years as well as 5 this year being selected and playing for the u16’s Saracens elite squad. Well done to Leke Adesanya, Connor Howell, Austin Julian, Joseph Deasy and Alex Mance.

Well done and congratulations to everyone involved this year, and good luck for next season where the club looks forward to watching you develop and achieve further success together as u17’s. A special mention to coaches Lee and Laure, they have created a great atmosphere in the squad and the boys’ attitude to training and the game of rugby is a credit to both of them. That the squad has grown from 18 to 27 this year is testament to that.
