Raising a Glass to Don MacDonald who sadly passed away recently
For those that never had the pleasure of knowing Don, he played for the club for over 25 years before moving away to France
Gerald arranged a gathering at the club on Sunday 8th to remember Don.
This is my recall of the days events and hope it captures the warmth of feeling felt for Don & Sheila (Dons partner, there on the day)
Gerry and others told stories/ memories of Don to the gathering of 40+ in the small bar. Gerry mentioned that he & Don were at Park Modern together where Don even at an early age was 6ft + but never grew much taller.
A very intelligent studious man that excelled in his profession as an electrician. His love of his treasured Morgan (probable more than one) and the fact in the early days of ownership they were always in sad state of repair where passengers could be sitting on a beer crate for a seat !
Don had a bit of a stutter but boasted that he could now stutter in French & English.
The attached picture was taken in France, couple of years ago when some chaps visited Terry Marner's place and caught up with Don. See Paul, Diggers, Bob & Dave for all the interesting stories !!
Don was a lovely man that will be sorely missed
